Usage rights

Can I use the images on Pictural Art?

It depends on the artwork. Collected images belong to their creators: Pictural Art claims no rights over them and grants none. Our own city views can be downloaded for personal use, with no resale and no commercial use. This page says exactly what applies to what.

Three cases, three answers

Artworks collected from other platforms
They belong to their creators. We show a reduced preview only, we credit the creator and we link back to the original page; the full artwork stays where it was published. We claim no rights over them, so we cannot grant you any. To use one, ask the creator and read the terms of the platform hosting it: the “View original” link on each entry takes you there.
Artworks sent in by their authors
Same rule. The author allowed us to show the work in the gallery, nothing more. They keep their rights and can ask for removal at any time.
Our own creations
The city views signed Pictural Art are the only images we hold the rights to, and the only ones we can say yes about. Personal display, on your own screens: television, computer, phone. No resale, no redistribution, no commercial use. For anything else, write to us.

What this page will not tell you

  • We do not give legal advice. We describe what we grant, and what we do not, on this site. Nothing more.
  • We do not settle the general question of the status of AI-generated images. It varies by country, it is moving, and it often depends on how much human work went in. If your project rests on it, get advice where you are.
  • “Free” and “royalty-free” are not the same thing. An image can cost nothing to look at and still come with conditions.
  • We cannot answer for you on whether to disclose that an image was generated by AI: it depends on where you publish.

Frequently asked questions

Can I download an image from this site?
The previews of collected artworks are not there to be downloaded: the full work stays at its source, and every entry links to it. Our own city views, on the other hand, can be downloaded at full size for personal use.
Are AI-generated images royalty-free?
Not automatically, and we do not settle that question. It depends on the country, the tool used and how much human work went in, and it is moving. On this site, the only answer we can give covers our own images: personal use.
Do I have to say that an image was generated by AI?
It depends where you publish it and what you do with it; some platforms require it in their terms. We cannot answer for you. When in doubt, saying so costs nothing.
Can I display your city views on my television?
Yes, that is exactly the intended use: personal display on your own screens, with no resale, no redistribution and no commercial use. The page about the city views has the file details.
I am a creator and I do not want to be here.
Write to us through the removal form on the About page. Requests are handled within 48 hours, and removal also deletes the file we had stored.
